Amusing for the novelty factor, but even for a quick filler, I do not find myself wanting to play this. The game is far too simple and luck based for its own good.
- Zombie Dice
While the argumentative and accusatory nature of the game might turn some away, with the right crowd this game is an absolute blast, and often gets played many times in succession.
- The Resistance
Every playthrough tells a unique story that everyone enjoys. This is a true American style board game, where the die roll is king, but the flavor and mechanics work together beautifully.
- Last Night on Earth
Great concept, but the mechanics do not fit the backstabbing theme, as there is no reason to cooperate at any point. Luck decides most outcomes, and the player characters are wildly unbalanced.
- Dungeon Run
This is a fun, fast, and light-hearted take on the cooperative boardgame. The base game is a bit bare, by itself, but the Wizard's Tower expansion makes me recommend this to casual gamers.
- Castle Panic
An all time favorite among my gaming friends. Every game played contains tension, drama, and even hilarity. This game manages to capture the essence of the show, while being a solid game as well.
- Battlestar Galactica
A great casual (and chaotic) game from the creator of Mage Knight - very popular in our gaming group. Unlike some of his other games, this is good with beer and pretzels and is a great opening game!
- Galaxy Trucker
A role selection/tableau builder in the mold of San Juan, but with lots more depth. Theme fits really well and games play fast - a meaty game for those of you who want to take it up a notch.
- Race for the Galaxy
This is a great game to satisfy those strategic conquest urges, when you're playing with a casual group. Fun, light hearted, and easy to pick up!
- Small World
A true classic of the genre, this game regularly hits the table. Great gateway game, medium filler, with great interaction coming from the anonymous role selection mechanic.
- Citadels
This great game is hard to learn for many people but is casual after. Strategy is required but I'm rating the game luck based because the game heavily depends on the starting planet. Expansions abound
- Race for the Galaxy
Enjoyable game. I've played it for years. Not a huge fan of luck/dice games, but this one is still engaging.
- The Settlers of Catan
Fun game of chance. We have the 80's version and love breaking it out every now and then.
- Life: The Game of Life
Great game. Good, varied difficulties to select. Good for the family too. Since it's not war, my wife even likes to play. The 2-player option is very engaging. Can play single player solitaire.
- Agricola
Good game for parties but lots of laughs but really depends on the group. It is a very casual game.
- Apples to Apples
It is a card game that is less luck based due to the drafting mechanic.Without the leaders expansion there is a little more luck but is predominantly skill based. Great quick game.
- 7 Wonders
great game that is different every time you play. With expansion packs you can create even more possibilities. While there is some luck involved, a good strategy pays off.
- Carcassonne
I liked how easy this game is to get into. It's great for people who are new to board games, but there's enough strategy to keep experienced players interested.
- Ticket To Ride
Played this a bunch with my 7 year old nephew, he loved it and always asks to play again. Seems pretty dependent on drawing the right cards at the right time, but its good problem solving for kids.
- Triplica
I really like this deck building game. Everyone is always playing, even during other's turns. Its fast paced and research adds a good twist to the standard mechanics. Can get a little repetitive.
