Haven't lost to the game to many times. But find we're constantly rechecking the rules that we're not cheating. Having different character cards with special abilities is where the game is won or lost
- Pandemic
Seemingly simple. And seemingly luck based. But new strategies to be learned and applied the more I play.
- Kingdom Builder
Good for large groups. Not good if your bad at reading people. But can still have fun even when you lose. Similar to Werewolf, mafia, or Bang.
- The Resistance
A quick fun word game. Good for doing with people you don't know well.
- Scattergories
Great party game that gets people out of there comfort zones. Also a game that young and old can enjoy.
- Cranium
It's fun to work together to beat the sandstorms. But lacks real deep strategy to be a great game. If cards go your way, can be to easy. And if they don't, really difficult.
- Forbidden Desert
I dislike this game. A better version is "King of Tokyo".
- Farkle
Constantly being schooled and learning new strategies and combinations. Many ways to win. And many ways to lose.
- Dominion
Great game. Not to complicated to learn, but takes some time to get good at the strategy side. But also takes some luck. Expansions add some new elements to change things up a bit.
- Carcassonne
A good change of pace from Mafia. Great for large groups. A good alternative is "One Night Ultimate Werewolf".
- Bang!
Tired of waiting for opponent to play during scrabble.
Bananagrams is for you. Though in my family we adapted the game with a few of our own rules to have more fun.
- Bananagrams
Only as fun as the people you play with.
- Apples to Apples
After a few games played, it's too easy to take out the sheriff and end the game quickly. Gameplay could have been refined a bit to work better than it does. Wish I could like this game more. . .
- Bang!
A simple enough game, limiting you to only 2 possible choices each turn. Nice for a quick filler. Didn't work well with 2 players IMO, 3 players seemed to make for a well paced and interesting game.
- Love Letter
Cards Against is a blast. Definitely not a game to play with people under 14 - I imagine the high schoolers have heard it all before anyway. Great for a party night with multiple adult card games.
- Cards Against Humanity
Steep learning curve, but the actual gameplay is easy to teach. So many symbols! Great game once you get the hang of it, good with 2 players.
- Race for the Galaxy
Good game, straightforward gameplay, easy to learn and teach. I prefer the Europe TTR version, but this is a good start if you want to get some non-gamers playing quickly.
- Ticket To Ride
Card game using Puerto Rico game mechanics, but trimmed down to the bone. The simplicity of using cards for goods/buildings/currency is well done. Great game, I would recommend this to most anyone.
- San Juan
Most often we "play" this game by just taking out the cards and asking the questions to all while sitting on the couch. A good "half attempt" at getting a game going when everyone is feeling lazy.
- Trivial Pursuit Master Edition
Easily my favorite Carcassonne expansion. Love the builder, and the trade goods really add a great new way to get points that encourages others to finish cities that are not their own.
