A real classic that spawned many copy-cat games. But you will fork out some cash to purchase it now. With all the user created adventures this will never grow old.
- HeroQuest
It is a great mix between a boardgame and a tabletop miniatures game. With high quality plastic pre-painted miniatures.
- Dust Tactics: Revised Core Set
A perfect light war game (for me) & wife approved. Love the "on the fly" strategy as command cards change and the dice rolling! By no means a perfect simulation but still a fun, fast game.
- Memoir '44
Only played once, no desire to play again. A lot of things to keep track of during the game and the timer just makes it worse. Would not recommend to the casual player.
- Space Alert
Love the passengers addition to up the strategy & you really need to pay attention to other players. Hardest part of this edition: Finding the German cities on the map. Game setup also a bit longer.
- Ticket to Ride: Märklin
The best part of this game is the mechanic that has everyone take their turns simultaneously. It keeps the game moving and allows players to stay engaged. No one is waiting around for their turn.
- 7 Wonders
This is a fun game for mindlessly rolling dice. My main complaint with it is the lack of strategy. This game is totally reliant on luck. If you're in the mood to roll dice it can be really fun.
- Quarriors!
I really like this game! It's a unique take on the Mafia style gameplay that puts every player in the dark.
- Bang!
A fun cooperative game that can be played in a short amount of time. Work together to defend your castle from the oncoming monsters! We lost twice in a row, feels "luck" heavy.
- Castle Panic
This is a fun and casual co-op defense game. It's really easy to learn and gets everyone working together quickly. It feels like a tower defense game but it has its own unique feel.
- Castle Panic
Games with a set ending are always a plus. Good variety with different civiliations. Fun game to play with a group of friends.
- 7 Wonders
Great expansion for Dominion. This has added a lot of enjoyment to the original deck. Expanded money and victory points options keep it interesting, and add variety to other sets used in tandem.
- Dominion: Properity
Amazing game. Simple concept, but allowing for complex strategies. Accessible to newcomers, but high replay value. Would recommend getting an expansion or two to really mix it up.
- Dominion
Enjoyable game. The cooperative play is refreshing, and the game is often a challenge, with a win or loss coming at the last minute. Winning (or losing) can be a bit anti-climactic. But great game.
- Pandemic
A fun, straight forward deck builder. All of the scenarios are good, however I've found the objectives that pit the players against each other are more fun.
- Rune Age
Good for when you need a break from more complex deck building games. Simple, fun, and not overly strategic.
- Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer
The first play through is rough, as you try traverse through the monster rulebook. But everything sinks in on subsequent plays. A good group of friends is a must. One of my favorites.
- Arkham Horror
A very good introduction into the deck building game genre. The game is easy to learn, taking almost as much time as it takes to shuffle. And if you need a good on-the-go gaming fix, try it on iOS.
- Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer
Ameritrash dice fest wargaming classic. I've played this game at least 600 times (mostly online), and I can honestly say that making a better Risk has inspired hundreds of games. Go get those.
- Risk
The game that started me gaming. It doesn't hit the table much anymore because I've since moved on to greener pastures, but it's still a solid game that's great for new gamers.
