Few games have captured my attention from simply looking at the box and art like this one had. It is a great adaptation of the pirate genre.
- Merchants & Marauders
A really fun game I was intrigued with right away. Get in, grab the data, get out. An interesting mix of cooperation while still being competitive. Lots of variations make it fun.
- Android: Infiltration
This is my current favorite heist game. It's a fun balance of pressing your luck and using abilities and actions at the right time. Great theme and execution.
- Android: Infiltration
Great intro to miniature gaming. Simple rules and simple play makes it easy to pick up and battle if you are a novice or expert gamer.
- Star Wars X-Wing: Miniatures Game
I enjoy this card game. Anyone can start playing, but it takes awhile to catch on to really learn how you can stack cards to continue playing for longer. Its difficult to decide when to go for points.
- Dominion
Picked this up at Gencon and am loving the visual nature of the strategy. Fun game that's pretty quick to learn. Strategy changes each time because of the different combinations of rules.
- Kingdom Builder
This is a really fun miniatures game. It doesn't take nearly as long as tradition miniature war games and it has an awesome IP to back it up. Locking in menuvers simultaneously is a sweet mechanic.
- Star Wars X-Wing: Miniatures Game
Addictive co-op game!
Luck is a factor, there is lots of dice to roll! But using your character's special abilities to the team's benefit is the key.
- Elder Sign
Complex enough to keep you thinking but not so difficult to be enjoyable. Many different strategies.
- Stone Age: Style is the Goal
It's Trivial Pursuit. We all know what it is, right?
- Trivial Pursuit Master Edition
It's a Euro without all the little pieces. Plays well with 2-4, but best with 3. Games last between 30-45 minutes. Very clean game design makes it easy to learn, play and teach.
- San Juan
So many ways to lose, yet I love it! This game creates great tension. You'll be on the edge of your seat hoping that the wrong city card doesn't turn up creating outbreak after outbreak. Buy it!
- Pandemic
I thought this would be funny. It wasn't. I thought it would be fun. It wasn't. If I could sell it, I would.
- Munchkin
The first few times I played this it was a 9 or 10 for me. But it's really lost its luster after subsequent plays. I'm contemplating selling/trading my copy. Maybe I should get the expansions instead.
- Carcassonne
I'm generally not a big fan of abstract games, but I like Blockus. Suprising amount of strategy for such a simple game. Best with 4 players
- Blokus
For me, it's just ok. If you really like scrabble or WWF, this might be too light for you.
- Bananagrams
Everybody has fun playing this game. There's never a problem trying to get this on the table. The iPhone app is pretty good too and a good way to try it out before you buy.
- Ticket To Ride
Intro to worker placement games. Good next step for new gamers who enjoyed Catan. Loved it the first few times I played it. But the more I play, the more it seems to lack substance.
- Stone Age
Still a fun game after all these years. With trading and some decent strategy, you can minimize the luck factor. But, sometimes the dice just don't roll your way.
- The Settlers of Catan
This is a game I really wanted to like. But it's far too complicated to get on to my family's gaming table. Serious gamers might enjoy, but there may not be enough meaningful choices for them.
