Recreate the feel of jockeying for position and power with other mafia families. This game is best played with 4+ people to keep the dynamics more complex. Cool roles and special cards.
- Mob Ties
An ancient classic. One of the longest living strategy games out there. Definitely worth your time if you've never played it.
- Go
A very cool twist on the original risk formula. I love how the game evolves the more times it's played. Because of that, it's best played with a set gaming group over multiple sessions.
- Risk 2210 A.D.
After playing Pandemic for awhile this is a great expansion to buy to switch up the game. I like the new game modes and optional tweaks it adds.
- Pandemic: On the Brink
I love the original Empire Builder, having a European landscape to build a railroad network is a refreshing touch
- Eurorails
A very unique game! Long term strategy combined with short term decisions makes this game evolve quickly during play. Being geographically accurate is a nice touch.
- Empire Builder
This game is very well designed. With multiple paths to victory available, you never know what your opponent might do.
- Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game
Love this wargame for its simplicity. It plays well, with pre-made scenarios you choose from, though they are not always equal between the sides. Interesting and challenging.
- Memoir '44
An older style of game, but enjoyable. Collect your sets of tiles while bidding on them during each phase. Be careful not to bid too early because the last player gets the advantage!
- Ra
Didn't love this game, the strange dynamic that you can ally with each other, but will turn against each other before the end seems stupid.
- Dungeon Run
A fun theme and interesting gameplay. The catch-up mechanic encourges poor results early in the game, an unfortunate part of play.
- Colosseum
An enjoyable thematic game, collecting elements for your shows and putting them on for crowds. The part that throws me for a curve every time is that your score is only based off of your last turn!
- Colosseum
Fun Game for a large group. It's all about knowing the reader or coming up with a clever card.
- Apples to Apples
Great game. It's just a perfectly undiluted bluffing game, and most of the people I've played with have just taken to it so readily that it shocks me. Hard to stop playing.
- The Resistance
I've really enjoyed this game every time I've played it. Each decision is an important one, and you really have to be aware of your opponents if you want to win.
- Power Grid
So much strategy and replayability lie behind some very simple rules. I've played so many games but I still want to play more. Most of the expansions add a great deal of value.
- Dominion
I'm a big fan of the mechanics of this game. Pretty decent gateway game, and it's just nice and relaxing. I just don't want to play it as often as some of my other games.
- Carcassonne
I think this is a great game for many people. However, it doesn't work for me. It's too long and too cumbersome for me to really want to play often. That said, I love the theme!
- Arkham Horror
Nifty little game. When people are paying attention the games just fly by. I really like the amount of strategy here for a game that can scale up to 7.
- 7 Wonders
Very beautiful to look at. Simple to play. Lack of components (dice, ships) disappointing.
