Aaron Sivertson
A easy to learn game. Lacks some long lasting replay ability.
- Ticket To Ride
The game that brought me into a new world of board games. Still a classic favorite. But we've added various expansions to inhance game play (i.e. Fish from Traders and Barbarians).
- The Settlers of Catan
Great for bring the young and old generations together (I.e. Family reunions)
- Sequence
If your a word nut and a good speller, this game is for you. I've seen people who win by: playing big words, playing lots of small words, and even a blind man win (Braille tiles).
- Scrabble
Only played one scenario. Great team game, but lots of rules and lots of decisions to be made every turn. Loved the game play, but wish it was simpler and quicker. Even board setup time is long.
- Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island
Haven't lost to the game to many times. But find we're constantly rechecking the rules that we're not cheating. Having different character cards with special abilities is where the game is won or lost
- Pandemic
Seemingly simple. And seemingly luck based. But new strategies to be learned and applied the more I play.
- Kingdom Builder
Good for large groups. Not good if your bad at reading people. But can still have fun even when you lose. Similar to Werewolf, mafia, or Bang.
- The Resistance
A quick fun word game. Good for doing with people you don't know well.
- Scattergories
Great party game that gets people out of there comfort zones. Also a game that young and old can enjoy.
- Cranium
It's fun to work together to beat the sandstorms. But lacks real deep strategy to be a great game. If cards go your way, can be to easy. And if they don't, really difficult.
- Forbidden Desert
I dislike this game. A better version is "King of Tokyo".
- Farkle
Constantly being schooled and learning new strategies and combinations. Many ways to win. And many ways to lose.
- Dominion
Great game. Not to complicated to learn, but takes some time to get good at the strategy side. But also takes some luck. Expansions add some new elements to change things up a bit.
- Carcassonne
A good change of pace from Mafia. Great for large groups. A good alternative is "One Night Ultimate Werewolf".
- Bang!
