Simple to learn, pushing your luck and picking the right time to venture down a path is the key to victory. Also, one of the most beautiful boards I've ever seen!
- Lost Cities: The Board Game
I'm not a fan of abstract games, but the presentation here really makes the game a lot of fun. Also, there is more strategy than people give it credit for. Simple rules & quick playtime also a plus.
- Kingdom Builder
Great co-op introduction for new gamers. The game really shines when everyone truly competes to be the "master slayer"!
- Castle Panic
Classic push-your-luck game, my non-gamer friends can't get enough. House rule: As soon as someone gets 13 or more, each player gets a chance to score higher or is eliminated. Try it!
- Zombie Dice
Fun game, best w 5-7 people. I wish they would ditch all the symbols & just use text on the cards, extra cost be damned. Hard for non-gamers to remember everything but play it enough and you'll learn.
- Bang!
Initially innovative, but now there are other games that do the same thing so much better (Say Anything, Cards Against Humanity). Too often, you get stuck w/ bad cards.
- Apples to Apples
Resisted trying this game for so long; I thought no way my non-gamer friends would like it. Wrong!!! I recommend revealing cards one at a time for more interaction & to help people learn the game.
- 7 Wonders
A perfect light war game (for me) & wife approved. Love the "on the fly" strategy as command cards change and the dice rolling! By no means a perfect simulation but still a fun, fast game.
- Memoir '44
Only played once, no desire to play again. A lot of things to keep track of during the game and the timer just makes it worse. Would not recommend to the casual player.
- Space Alert
Love the passengers addition to up the strategy & you really need to pay attention to other players. Hardest part of this edition: Finding the German cities on the map. Game setup also a bit longer.
- Ticket to Ride: Märklin
